We left Boston at 7:30 am same day and arrived before the event started at noon. The Beautycon experience was fine but I have to be honest, it was not what we expected. I think it’s more suitable to a younger crowd (not that we’re old). Having experienced it once was enough, I would say.
We had lunch at Maze Restaurant by Chef Gordon Ramsay at London Hotel. It’s located near the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) ,near Central Park and Bergdorf Goodman ( My favorite place to shop in NYC). This restaurant was recommended to me by a good friend and co-worker. They have a small menu which changes every couple of months, the food we ordered was excellent and did not disappoint us. The portions were generous. We ordered the 4-course tasting menu and a cured meat and artisan cheese plate. The ambiance is cozy and service was impeccable. If you were to ask me what was my favorite? I would say, the cured meat and artisan cheese plate and my second favorite is the warm chocolate fondant cake, it’s so good that it melted in my mouth. I haven’t tasted anything like it before. Yummy.
We stopped for a quick rest and did some people watching outside The Museum of Modern Art. MOMA was only 5-minute walk from Maze Restaurant. Being there was really nice although the weather was chilly and we didn’t wanna spend the rest of the remaining hours doing nothing so we decided to go to Bergdorf Goodman for a little shopping. If you are a fashionista and visiting New York City, this place should be on your “What’s Not To Miss in NYC ” list. New York has so many wonderful places to shop but I adore the one and only Bergdorfs. All hail to Bergdorf Goodman for being the best and unrivaled midtown shopping destination.
We finished our day with a lovely dinner looking at the fabulous skyline of New York City all lit up at the View Restaurant. It’s a revolving rooftop restaurant situated at the 48th floor of Mariott Marquis Hotel in Time’s Square. We enjoyed the 360 degree view of the Big Apple just as much as we enjoyed our food. We were seated by the glass window where we viewed the entire skyline over the course of an hour. The floor moved slowly, enough to notice. This is a must have experience when you are in the area. I ordered the Top of the View Cocktail, as shown in the picture and I highly recommend it.
The next morning. I decided to go to Brooklyn Heights Promenade. This is my favorite spot in NY whenever I want to see the panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline across the water. Whether you’re visiting NYC or a local, you have to come here at some point in your life. As for me? I will keep coming back to this perfection.
We were lucky to find a great parking spot in Brooklyn on a Sunday. From the Promenade, it was a 15-minute walk to reach the top of Brooklyn Bridge. Speaking of the Brooklyn Bridge, it’s always been a goal of mine to walk on this iconic bridge. I’m happy that I finally did it. It was a unique experience to take in the incredible view of the stunning Manhattan Skyline from the city’s great landmark. We took our time taking photos and enjoying the scenery. I felt so accomplished and ecstatic crossing this off from my bucket list. I will do it again in warmer weather .. 🙂
While we were in NY, we could not miss the NY original Shake Shack Burger. That’s what we had for lunch and it’s as good as it gets. I ordered the Shack Stack burger and I loved it. Their french fries are to die for as well. If California has In-n-Out, New York has Shake Shack. I am literally salivating at the thought of this so I’m going to have to end it here. Go to Shake Shack if you have never been. You definitely have to try it. They have multiple locations in the East Coast. Yes!
Ranked among the ten most expensive housing prices in the US, Greenwich Village is just walking distance from SOHO, my favorite place in NY to find great artists, restaurants and where you’ll find loads of designer and non designer boutiques. Our original plan was to shop at Soho but we were already exhausted and just stopped at the Greenwich Village for some instagram, blogging, facebook worthy photos. Oops! Our NY adventure ended there and we headed back to Boston. You can do fun stuff for 24 hours in the Big Apple but there are always things that you look forward to when you come back to the extraordinary Empire State.
Hope you enjoyed reading my 24 hour experience in NYC. I’m looking forward to going back in December for the Christmas Tree lighting at Rockefeller Center. Have a good one! 😉
